Marshall Family Practice announces a new Family Nurse Practitioner has joined the staff. Patti Day, MSN-FNP-C is board-certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Family Nurse Practitioner and will join the primary care providers located inside the Fitzgibbon Medical Clinic on Monday, Sept. 12. She will focus on caring for patients with more acute needs who wish to be seen same-day.
Day graduated in May 2019 with her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University, where she was a member of the National Honors Society. She earlier received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Methodist University in Fayette in 2015 and her associate’s degree in nursing from Lincoln University in Jefferson City in 2012.
Prior to joining Marshall Family Practice, Day worked at University of Missouri Healthcare in Columbia in the Cardiovascular Medicine Department as well as the Anesthesia Perioperative Clinic and Chronic Pain Management Clinic as a family nurse practitioner. She also worked as a registered nurse in several operating room departments within the University of Missouri Healthcare system, including the Missouri Orthopedic Institute.
Day’s focus on same-day care will bring additional patient access to the community, as her schedule will allow individuals to get care for more urgent conditions, such as ear aches or infections, hives and rashes, strep throats, urinary tract infections, and bronchitis, to name a few. This access will be a better alternative to emergency room visits that come with a higher cost to the patient than standard care or urgent care type walk-in visits with a provider.
