Fitzgibbon Hospital’s sleep lab has received accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. While the sleep lab has continually provided quality care through its sleep studies both on-site and administered in the home setting, the formal accreditation – together with the requirement to name a specialized medical director who is board-certified in sleep medicine - followed new regulations implemented by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services regional contractor earlier in 2017.
The formal accreditation means patients can rest assured knowing that their sleep services performed at Fitzgibbon Hospital are fully eligible for coverage by Medicare.
Fitzgibbon Hospital’s Sleep Lab provides initial sleep studies, CPAP/Titration studies both during the day and at night, split night studies and in-home sleep studies. Each of these options is designed to make convenient access to a good, quality night’s sleep accessible to patients in our rural setting. Results of the sleep studies are interpreted by David Kuhlmann, M.D., medical director for the Fitzgibbon Hospital Sleep Lab.
Additional services provided in the sleep lab at Fitzgibbon Hospital include Electromyogram (EMG) and Electroencephalograms (EEG). Both diagnostic exams are available with referral from your primary physician.
