Fitzgibbon Home Health is celebrating recent national recognition by Medicare for providing a 5-star patient experience, a designation which comes directly from patient satisfaction surveys conducted after patients are discharged. Currently, Fitzgibbon Home Health is the only agency providing home health services in Saline and surrounding counties with the 5-star rating from its patients.
Individuals researching a home health agency will find the 5-star rating on the Care-Compare website created by Medicare. The website is located at medicare.gov/care-compare.
“This is just a validation of the hard work of our staff who do what is right for our patients every single day,” said Angie Pogue, RN/BSN, Community Services Nurse Manager. “The fact that the recognition is coming from surveys of actual patients just makes it all that more special for us, because they are what makes our job so fulfilling.”
Providers of home health, hospice and even healthcare in a hospital setting are required to contract with an outside vendor to survey a defined percentage of patients at random to ensure that the care they are receiving is excellent. These post-care surveys of home health agency patients are called HHCAHPS which stands for Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.
In addition to this recognition by Medicare, Fitzgibbon Home Health has also received additional recognition from Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Premier Performer” for achieving an overall patient satisfaction score that ranked in the top 5% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2022 calendar year. The achievement was for HHCAHPS scores among home health providers. Fitzgibbon Hospice was recognized as a “Superior Performer. This means the Fitzgibbon Hospice achieved an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 20% of all eligible SHP clients for the 2022 calendar year. These are national recognitions, as their rankings are compared to providers from all across the United States.
The annual SHPBest™ award program was created to acknowledge home health agencies and hospices that consistently provide high quality service to their patients. The 2022 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall satisfaction score for more than 3,200 home health providers and more than 1,000 hospice providers.
With the largest HHCAHPS benchmark in the nation, SHP is in a unique position to identify and recognize organizations that have made patient satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the HHCAHPS survey.
