Military veterans are accustomed to being honored on Veteran’s Day each year with breakfasts, lunches and other activities throughout the day. This year, local veterans will receive a free chili dinner at the 2016 Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary Ambassadors Holiday Bazaar. The even will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, at the Martin Community Center. The bakery and vendor booths open at 3 p.m., with the children's area opening at 4 p.m.. The bazaar will conclude at 8 p.m.
The annual Holiday Bazaar is the primary fundraiser for the Auxiliary Ambassadors, who have contributed more than $900,000 to Fitzgibbon Hospital in their 50 years of operation. Hundreds of area patrons come for the evening to shop or enjoy a chili or soup supper. Proceeds from the event are used to fund departmental wish list items within the Fitzgibbon organization that are patient care-related, as well as continuing education for staff and student scholarships.
Members of the Auxiliary Ambassadors make hundreds of desserts, which are sold at the bake sale. In addition, a children's play area - complete with arts, crafts and character costumes - make the event fun for the whole family. And the annual raffles are held during the Bazaar as well, which always bring a lot of excitement to those in attendance.
